The dashboard displays the new name and the API key. Once you’ve registered and logged in, go to the dashboard, make sure you’re looking at "Keys" on the left-hand menu, and click the "Add New Key" button.Įnter a name for the key you're creating, make sure you've checked the Geofencing API box and any others that you want to use, and click the "Create Key" button. If you'd like to learn via video tutorial, this Devisode with our developer advocates Jose Jose Rojas and Olivia Vahsen goes over how to track assets with the TomTom Geofencing, Location History, and Notification APIs.Īs with any TomTom API service, you need an account. In this article we'll take a look at the TomTom Geofencing service from a developer's point of view, covering the elements of the service and APIs. There are many ways geofencing can be used to benefit individuals and businesses, such as tracking fleet vehicle assets, targeting ad content to a specific area of town, or linking to smart home technology to adjust the thermostat when we go to work. Typically, such a transition will trigger some sort of event. Once these items are set up, we can use the service to record the locations of objects and the system will keep track of the "transitions"-when an object crosses a fence. To enable this, TomTom provides geofencing APIs for performing various functions, including creating and managing projects, objects, and fences. These services allow us to add objects and record their position for transition checking to determine whether they’re inside or outside a geofenced area.

I have downloded other maps as suggested in various threads but before I try to install them I would love to know what I doing wrong or if I need to use a different Cab file to run these maps on the HTC HD2.Geofencing is a set of services for defining an area with a virtual "fence" boundary.

It sees the SD card and the map folder ("Western_Europe_1GB") and over writes the dct file in the folder but when I try and start TomTom it still comes up with the message "Maps Not Activated". I have tried to use FastActivate to generate the activation codes. I have looked through the post on this site and and followed the instructions relating to activating the maps. If I can not get TomTom up and running on the spare HTC units then we will have to bring forward our replacement program. We have 20 HTC HD2 units which were to be used as spares over the next 12 months as we move on to the iPhone. We currently run 45 HTC HD2 mobiles using TomTom Navigator 7.918(9193) and the Western_Europe_1Gb v885.4058 map. We have been told by TomTom that we can longer purchase and activate legimate copies of their maps using TomTom Home as they no longer support smart phones other than the iPhone.
